Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, Karawang – Rolling electricity blackouts that have occurred in a number of areas in the last few weeks have become a concern for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The instability of electricity supply is considered to have a direct impact on business activities that rely on electricity-based equipment. One of the MSME players, Rian, revealed that his business suffered losses due to blackouts that occurred without a definite schedule. Crystal ice products stored in freezers melt when the electricity goes out so they cannot be marketed to consumers."If the electricity goes out, the freezer also shuts down. The ice that has been produced melts and can no longer be sold. Of course this is a loss for us," he said.According to Rian, this condition is not only experienced by him. Many other small business actors are also feeling the same impact, especially businesses operating in the food, beverage and cultivation sectors which are highly dependent on electricity supplies.
Apart from economic losses, power outages also hamper business productivity. Some MSME players were forced to temporarily stop their activities because they did not have a backup energy source to support their business operations.Responding to this condition, Public Relations of PLN for Karawang Regency, Wahyu, explained that the electricity supply disruption occurred due to operational technical problems at the generator which resulted in reduced electricity supply capacity to customers."Due to the ongoing technical operational problems at the generator which caused a decrease in electricity supply capacity, PLN carried out limited load management by stopping electricity supply in several locations. We apologize for the inconvenience experienced by customers," he said.In the midst of these conditions, the community hopes that PLN can immediately resolve existing problems so that electricity supply returns to normal. They also hope that there will be a faster and more scheduled delivery of information so that the public and business actors can take anticipatory steps. Reliability of electricity supply is considered to be an important factor in supporting regional economic growth. With the availability of stable electricity, the activities of the community and MSMEs can run smoothly, thereby increasing productivity and economic prosperity in a sustainable manner.
