Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, Karawang Regency is currently facing serious challenges in the health and social sectors, where this area is ranked third largest in West Java for the number of residents suffering from the HIV/AIDS virus. Responding to this condition, the Chair of the Karawang Islamic Brotherhood Laskar (LPI) and Chair of the Al-Kautsar Mosque DKM, Ustadz Nana Suryana, called for a joint movement to protect the younger generation from the threat of sexual deviation. This call was made on the sidelines of a charity event for 50 orphans which was held at the Al-Kautsar Mosque on Monday (15/6/2026), which also coincided with the commemoration of the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1448 Hijriah. In his tausyiah, Ustadz Nana gave a strong warning to parents in Karawang to tighten supervision of their children's relationships so that they do not fall into a negative circle. He expressed his concern over data that places Karawang in the red zone for HIV/AIDS transmission at the provincial level, where one of the biggest contributors comes from the sexual deviant behavior of the LGBT community. Therefore, he emphasized that the main bulwark to ward off this phenomenon must start from the family environment through strong religious education and intensive attention from parents.

Furthermore, Ustadz Nana stated that handling these social and health problems cannot be left to the regional government alone, but requires the active participation of all elements of society. Karawang residents are invited to work together and help the Regional Government (Pemda) in preventing and breaking the chain of development of sexual deviant organizations or communities in the surrounding environment. In addition to providing social education, the momentum of 1 Muharram 1448 H was also filled with real actions of concern for others through the distribution of compensation to 50 orphaned children around the mosque. Through this activity, DKM Al-Kautsar and LPI Karawang hope that the spirit of the Hijri New Year can bring blessings and become a trigger for society to move towards a more religious and healthy life.As a concrete step for legal certainty, LPI Karawang expressed its full support for the Karawang Regency Government to immediately take firm regulatory action. Ustadz Nana emphasized that the LPI is ready to oversee the regional government to issue an anti-LGBT Regent's Regulation (Perbup) as a legal instrument to maintain public morality, protect children's growth and development, and reduce the rate of HIV/AIDS transmission in Karawang.
