Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Karawang Regency Islamic Boarding School Forum (FPP) has stated its firm stance in condemning all forms of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) behavior which is considered to be contrary to Islamic teachings, religious norms, as well as the nation's moral and cultural values. The general chairman of the Karawang Regency Islamic Boarding School Forum, KH. Abdul Hayyi, who is also the Head of the Tarbiyatul Wildan Nihayatul Amal Islamic Boarding School, expressed deep concern over the rise of LGBT behavior which he feared could affect the younger generation, especially students and teenagers in Karawang Regency.According to KH. Abdul Hayyi, the LGBT phenomenon should not be considered a trivial issue. All elements of society, from families, educational institutions, religious figures, to local governments, must work together to take concrete steps to protect the younger generation from various forms of behavior that deviate from religious values."We are very concerned if LGBT behavior is growing and infecting the younger generation. Therefore, serious efforts are needed from all parties to strengthen religious education, morals and family resilience as the main bulwark in maintaining the morals of the nation's next generation," he said.FPP Karawang also asked local governments and law enforcement officials to monitor and take action against places suspected of being gathering locations for the LGBT community and activities that have the potential to encourage the spread of this behavior. If it is proven that they have violated legal provisions and disturbed public order, FPP Karawang hopes that firm action will be taken in accordance with applicable regulations.Meanwhile, KH. Muhammad Endang Suratno Wibowo, M.Ed., Chair 1 of the FPP and also the Administrator of the Lestari Alam Qur'ani Islamic Boarding School in Indonesia and an educational figure in Karawang Regency, emphasized that the LGBT issue is not only related to aspects of religious law, but also concerns the resilience of civilization, the future of the family, and the direction of character formation for the nation's generation.According to him, this phenomenon must be addressed firmly, wisely, and based on human values. He reminded that society needs to distinguish between rejection of behavior that is considered contrary to religious teachings and respect for the dignity of every human being."Islam teaches compassion for fellow human beings, but at the same time provides clear boundaries regarding behavior that is justified and prohibited. We must not hate people, but we also must not condone behavior that is contrary to the Shari'a. The path that must be taken is da'wah, education, formation and strengthening of morals," he stressed.KH. Endang also highlighted the importance of family as the first and main fortress in building children's character. According to him, the rapid flow of digital information, weakening of family supervision, and the crisis of example are big challenges that must be faced together. "Let us not only be busy condemning the symptoms, but forget to fix the root of the problem. A strong family, quality education, a healthy environment, and exemplary leaders are the main foundations for giving birth to a generation that is moral, knowledgeable, and has strong moral resilience," he added. In religious views, FPP Karawang refers to MUI Fatwa Number 57 of 2014 issued by the Indonesian Ulema Council as a guideline for Islamic law in responding to the LGBT phenomenon and various other forms of sexual deviation. Some of the main contents of the fatwa include: (jarimah).• Sodomy (liwath) is considered haram, including a heinous act (fahisyah) and a major sin.• Sexual immorality in various forms is considered haram and can be subject to sanctions in accordance with the provisions of the sharia.• Efforts to legalize same-sex sexual activity or same-sex marriage are punished as haram.
At the end of his statement, KH. Abdul Hayyi and KH. Muhammad Endang Suratno Wibowo invited the entire Karawang community to strengthen religious education, maintain family harmony, increase social awareness, and create a healthy and conducive environment for the growth and development of the younger generation.According to both of them, efforts to maintain community morality must be carried out through wise preaching, sustainable education, coaching the younger generation, and enforcing applicable regulations. In this way, it is hoped that the people of Karawang will maintain the Islamic values, morals and cultural wisdom of the nation which have been the foundation of the community's social life.
