Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Karawang Regency Social Service (Dinsos) continues to strive to meet the need for assistive devices for people with disabilities. This year, around 100 people have applied for assistance with assistive devices such as wheelchairs, canes, hearing aids and prosthetic limbs. However, the distribution of aid must be carried out in stages due to regional budget limitations.Head of the Social Empowerment Division of the Karawang Social Service, Hj. Marwati explained that this assistance was provided based on the initial list (prelist) that was submitted. "Even though most of it has been distributed to the beneficiaries, there are still a number of applicants who have to wait patiently for their turn because of the limited budget ceiling."This year there are around 100 people on the initial list. We have distributed most of them, while the rest will be given in stages," said Marwati, Monday (13/7/2026). He hopes that there will be a shift in the budget in the future so that all incoming requests can be realized immediately.
The Department of Social Affairs admitted that they were concerned about budget constraints which caused the waiting time for applicants to be quite long. In fact, there have been heartbreaking cases where applicant residents died before the awaited assistance arrived. This condition is an important evaluation for local governments in improving services for people with disabilities.Regarding the application mechanism, Marwati appealed to people with disabilities to submit applications through the local village government. Later, the data will be forwarded to the Social Service for field verification to ensure that the assistance is right on target and really needed by the recipient. In the distribution process, the Karawang Social Service applies a priority scale by prioritizing residents whose conditions are most urgent. This step was taken to ensure that the benefits available can be immediately felt by the people who need the most urgent treatment.
