Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, KARAWANG — Ahead of the simultaneous Village Head Election (Pilkades) for Karawang Regency in November 2026, the people of Bengle Village are starting to pay great attention to various environmental problems that have not yet been resolved, especially the problem of flooding in residential areas.A number of residents believe that flood management has not been carried out comprehensively so far. It is said that the standing water only moved from one point to another due to the drainage system not being integrated and environmental development being carried out in stages. Apart from technical issues, residents also highlighted the incomplete handover process of public facilities (fasum) and social facilities (fasos) from the developer to the Regional Government. This condition is considered to be one of the obstacles to the entry of development programs and council aspirations into residential areas. As a result of management status which is not yet completely clear, a number of development proposals such as normalizing drainage, repairing water channels and paving roads have not been fully realized.

In fact, at several points on the road, puddles of water when it rains often reach a height of around 20 to 30 centimeters. This condition often causes residents' vehicles, especially motorbikes, to break down when passing by.One resident who did not want to be named said that the community currently needs a village leader who is truly present for the community, not just appearing during campaign momentum."We need a leader who is ready to help oversee the process of handing over public and social services from the developer to the regional government. If the process is complete, development will be easier to carry out and our environment can be given more attention," he said.According to him, the village head in the future is expected to be able to become a bridge of communication between residents, developers, regional government, and the legislature so that various environmental problems can be resolved together.Residents hope that the momentum of the 2026 village elections will be the starting point for the birth of village leaders who have real concern for the needs of the community, especially in creating a safe, comfortable and flood-free environment."What the community needs today is not just promises, but someone who is willing to sit down together to find solutions and has the courage to oversee the process until it is actually realized," he concluded.
