This figure recorded an increase of IDR 287,260 from the previous year, as an effort by the regional government to adjust economic standards and maintain the welfare of workers in the industrial area.As one of the largest manufacturing centers in Indonesia, Karawang consistently has competitive wage standards at the regional level. This determination refers to national regulations, namely Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning the Determination of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law (Perppu) Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation. This policy aims to ensure that workers have a decent life, as well as creating harmonious industrial relations between employers and workers.The trend of increasing wages in Karawang has continued to show significant dynamics over the last eight years. In 2019, the UMK was recorded at IDR 4,234,010, then increased to IDR 4,594,325 in 2020 and IDR 4,798,312 in 2021. Having stabilized at IDR 4,798,312 in 2022, the UMK rose again to IDR 5,176,179 in 2023, IDR 5,257,834 in 2024, IDR 5,599,593 in 2025, until finally reaching IDR 5,886,853 in 2026.
The size of Karawang's UMK currently places the area as one of the areas with the highest minimum wage in West Java, ranking third behind Bekasi City (Rp. 5,999,443) and Bekasi Regency (Rp. 5,938,885).
