Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The peak of Eid 2026 backflow on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) toll road was marked by horror traffic jams on Friday afternoon (27/3/2026). Thousands of vehicles coming from the Cipali Toll Road and Cipularang Toll Road were observed snaking along the road from Kilometer (KM) 63 to KM 54 towards Jakarta. This density means travelers who want to return to the capital are stuck in long queues for hours. Based on field observations, the worst traffic jams occur in the East Karawang area. Apart from the increase in vehicle volume which overflowed since 13.00 WIB, there was a fatal technical problem at KM 54. A large truck reportedly broke down right in the middle of the road, which resulted in an extreme bottleneck on the main lane towards Jakarta.
"Traffic conditions came to a complete halt due to the truck breaking down at KM 54. The pileup of vehicles extended to the KM 62 Rest Area," reported a field contributor at the scene. The presence of large vehicles stopping in the middle of the fast lane forced thousands of private cars to creep slowly and occasionally stop completely, triggering frustration among travelers who had traveled long distances from Central Java or Bandung.Police officers and Jasa Marga were immediately deployed to the location to evacuate the truck. It was only observed that traffic flow began to ease again after the large vehicle was successfully moved from the main lane. However, the remnants of the density were still felt until the afternoon due to the domino effect of the accumulation of vehicles which had stretched along the 9 kilometers.Until this news was published, the exact cause of the truck breaking down was still being handled by officers in the field. The toll road management urges road users to always check the physical condition of their vehicles before making a return journey, in order to avoid technical obstacles that could harm other road users amidst the busy Eid 2026 traffic flow.
