Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Karawang Regency officially stated its firm rejection of the existence of night entertainment venues (THM) in the Karawang area, including commercial activities taking place at the Theater Night Mart (TNM). This stance was taken in response to public reports regarding alleged disc jockey (DJ) activities on certain days which were deemed to have deviated from the initial permits as cafes and restaurants.Deputy Secretary of MUI Karawang, Ustaz Yayan Sofyan, revealed that his party had valid information regarding these operations. He emphasized this after taking part in a surprise inspection (sidak) with the ranks of Commission I DPRD Karawang on Thursday (16/4/2026). Jika sudah ada DJ, klasifikasinya sudah jelas merupakan THM, bukan lagi sekadar kafe atau bar biasa," tegas Ustaz Yayan Sofyan kepada awak media di lokasi sidak.MUI Karawang menjelaskan bahwa secara organisasi, mereka tidak menghalangi The investment climate and the existence of cafes and restaurants in Karawang as long as their operations comply with applicable regulations. This concern reflects experiences in other places where night entertainment facilities often become entry points for activities that are contrary to religious and social norms in society.Furthermore, Ustaz Yayan emphasized that the main threat does not only lie in the circulation of alcoholic beverages. The focus of MUI's vigilance is precisely on the big risk of drug abuse and illegal drugs which often go hand in hand with the atmosphere of nightlife. "This is what we are really worried about, the potential for harm is much greater for Karawang's younger generation," he explained.Responding to these findings, MUI Karawang emphasized its commitment to stand as a strategic partner for the regional government in safeguarding the benefit of the people. MUI will continue to provide technical and moral input to the executive and legislature to ensure that the policies taken provide broad benefits and do not actually cause moral damage.As a servant of the people, MUI Karawang ensures that it will continue to monitor this issue until there is firm action from the relevant agencies.
