Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Karawang Regency Government (Pemkab) is currently finalizing plans to implement the Work From Home (WFH) policy for State Civil Apparatus (ASN). The Regent of Karawang, Aep Syaepuloh, revealed that this policy is planned to be implemented one day a week, which will most likely fall every Wednesday.This step was taken as part of budget and operational efficiency efforts within the Karawang Regency Government, following directions from the central government. "We have prepared WFH for the regional government. Of course we just have to wait for an official letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs. As for the day, most likely it will be Wednesday," said Regent Aep, Friday (27/3/2026).
Even though it is planned to take effect on April 1 2026, Regent Aep emphasized that not all agencies can enjoy this WFH facility. It is certain that the basic public service sector must continue to provide services face-to-face for the benefit of the wider community. Vital departments such as DPMPTSP (Licensing), Disdukcapil, health workers at RSUD/Puskesmas, and the education sector are still required to go to the office as usual. "Sectors that have direct contact with the community cannot be WFH. This policy may only be implemented in certain regional apparatus, such as the Regional Secretariat (Setda) whose duties are administrative," explained Aep. Apart from WFH, the Regent also encouraged ASN to save energy by switching to public transportation, online motorbike taxis, or cycling when going to the office in order to respond to global geopolitical dynamics.In order to anticipate "disguised leave" or employees who wander off during working hours, the Karawang Regency Government through BKPSDM will tighten the monitoring system. Every ASN undergoing WFH is still required to take digital attendance and report daily performance results in real-time. "Everything remains closely monitored. There is no reason for ASN not to be productive even though they work from home," stressed Regent Aep.
