Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Karawang Regency Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) is again following up on public complaints regarding the presence of street vendors (PKL) selling and consuming parts of the Perumnas Main Road. This activity is considered to disrupt the smooth flow of traffic, trigger traffic jams, and potentially endanger road users in the area.In response to increasingly widespread complaints from residents, the Head of the Public Order and Community Peace Division (Kabid Tibum and Transmas) of the Karawang Satpol PP, Acep Supriadi, accompanied by the Head of the Operations and Control Section (Kasi Opsdal) Tata Suparta, immediately moved quickly. His party stated that personnel had been dispatched to the location after receiving reports regarding disturbances to public order.Based on the results of direct monitoring and investigations in the field, officers found a number of traders using carts and setting up stalls on the road. "Based on the results of patrols in the field, we found a number of street vendors selling using carts and occupying part of the road," said Acep when giving a statement, Monday (4/5/2026).

Acep explained that patrol and surveillance activities are actually a routine agenda that Satpol PP continues to carry out to maintain city order. However, permanent enforcement is often hampered by the cat and mouse behavior of traders who move when they see officers. These obstacles in the field mean that enforcement does not run optimally because traders often return after the officers have left. "We cannot always be at the location. When patrols are carried out, they usually leave because they don't have a permanent place to sell," he explained.Furthermore, he emphasized that using the road for trading clearly violates Regional Regulations and seriously disturbs public order. The regional government realizes that this control is crucial in order to create a city layout that is neater and free from traffic jams.Despite violating the rules, the enforcement steps taken by the Satpol PP so far still prioritize a humanist and persuasive approach. It is hoped that this approach will be able to provide understanding to traders without having to cause social friction in the community."For now, we are giving a warning and an appeal so that street vendors do not repeat their actions and do not use the road to sell," concluded Acep. The Satpol PP also appealed to the public to continue reporting if these violations continue to occur.
