The sound of sirens wailing in the middle of a long traffic jam seemed to be a silent witness to the struggle of the medical team which was hampered by the dense traffic flow in the city center.In the recording, the atmosphere in the ambulance looked very emotional. The driver and patient driver repeatedly shouted for other drivers to give them space, but the increasing volume of vehicles meant that the speed of the ambulance was not optimal. Tensions peaked when one of the patient's families was unable to control their anger because access to the hospital was completely blocked by the accumulation of residents attending the cultural parade.The identity of the patient who died was known as Jubaedah, a resident of Neglasari Hamlet, Sedari Village, Cibuaya District. The deceased was initially rushed to the Karawang District Hospital because he was experiencing acute respiratory problems which required immediate medical treatment. However, the journey that could have been taken more quickly turned into a disaster when the ambulance got stuck in the Karawang Square area which was the center of the Binokasih Crown Carnival crowd.
The condition was made worse by the closure of a number of main roads, forcing ambulance drivers to look for alternative routes towards West Karawang. Unfortunately, the West Karawang area at that time was also experiencing severe traffic jams due to concert activities in the Podomoro area. Due to the drastically increased duration of the trip, the oxygen supply in the ambulance reportedly ran out before the patient could receive treatment in the emergency room.Ironically, Jubaedah was reportedly not the only victim in this traffic jam incident. Another report stated that a patient from Tirtajaya District also breathed his last with suspected similar conditions, namely obstruction of the ambulance's mobility to the health center. These two lives lost sparked a wave of criticism from netizens regarding crowd management and prioritization of emergency access in the midst of holding large events in Karawang Regency.Until this news was written, the relevant authorities or event organizers had not provided an official statement regarding the incident. The public is now demanding a comprehensive evaluation of the traffic engineering system and ambulance lane guarding when the big agenda takes place.
