The perpetrator, who acted alone, did not move after his escape attempt ended tragically at the hands of residents who were furious with his reckless actions in broad daylight.The Head of Karawang Police Public Relations, Ipda Cep Wildan, revealed that this incident started when the victim, Desi Heriyanti (32), passed in front of a workshop at around 14.10 WIB. The perpetrator, who was riding a red Honda Scoopy motorbike, suddenly grabbed the victim's shawl bag and grabbed it by force. However, because the bag strap which was strong enough did not break, there was a fierce tug-of-war on the moving vehicle, causing the situation to get out of control.The incident reached its peak when the victim's motorbike swerved and fell right on top of the perpetrator's motorbike. As a result, the two vehicles fell on the asphalt, making the PK perpetrator trapped and unable to immediately escape. Seeing this incident, local residents who were aware of the robbery crime immediately surrounded the location. The perpetrator tried to hide in a swamp area filled with water hyacinth, but residents managed to drag him out before finally taking the law into his own hands.
The victim's condition was reported to have bruises and a sprained leg due to being hit by the weight of the motorbike, while the 5-year-old child was traumatized by this frightening incident. Police officers from the Rengasdengklok Police who arrived at the location immediately secured the perpetrator from the rampage of the more anarchic crowd. Currently, the suspect and the vehicle evidence have been taken to the Karawang Police Headquarters to undergo further examination regarding his motive and criminal track record.In response to this incident, the police appealed to the public to increase vigilance regarding driving safety, especially for women.
