Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The implementation of the Academic Competency Test (TKA) at junior high school level in Karawang Regency in 2026 is still overshadowed by classic problems related to infrastructure. Based on the latest data, it is recorded that almost 30 percent of schools in the Rice Lumbung area have not been able to hold exams independently due to limited computer equipment. This condition forces a number of schools to borrow devices and "ride" at nearby high schools/vocational schools or universities so that students can still take exams.Based on field monitoring, there are at least 11 schools that are still completely dependent on other parties' facilities. Data from the Karawang Education and Culture Service (Disdikbud) reveals quite a contrasting fact: out of a total of 217 participating schools, 63 schools were recorded as using computers with "client not owned" status. In total, there are 644 borrowed or rented computers deployed to fill the lack of digital facilities at the junior high school level.In order to overcome the limitations of these facilities, the Karawang Education and Culture Office implemented a layered exam system which took place from 6 to 16 April 2026. The implementation of TKA was divided into four waves with four sessions each day. This strict schedule setting is the only solution so that all students can access the available devices in turns, even though this system is acknowledged to be quite challenging in terms of school time management.
In fact, TKA is a national strategic agenda that is mandatory in accordance with Permendikdasmen Number 9 of 2025 as a benchmark for the quality of education. It is feared that the limitations of these facilities could affect students' psychological aspects and concentration. The move of the exam location to another school and the difference in learning environment are considered to have the potential to disrupt students' focus, which in the end could have an impact on the results of their competency evaluation.Responding to this situation, the Head of the Karawang Education and Culture Office, Wawan Setiawan Natakusumah, emphasized that his party continues to strive to provide maximum service. Wawan ensured that despite the limitations, no student should lose their right to take exams. "We are facilitating it through a hitchhiking pattern so that all students are still served. Currently the main thing is to ensure TKA runs optimally amidst existing obstacles," he said on Friday (10/4/2026).The Karawang Regency Government has made this condition an important note in evaluating the distribution of educational infrastructure. Wawan promised that there would be steps to accelerate the procurement of digital facilities and infrastructure (sapras) in the coming years to end the gap in facilities between schools. It is hoped that the digitalization of education will no longer be just a national standard on paper, but a reality that can be enjoyed equally by all schools in Karawang.
