Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, Reassuring news has come for all PLN customers in Karawang Regency ahead of the Idul Fitri 1447 H celebration. The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has officially knocked the hammer that electricity tariffs for the second quarter (April-June) 2026 will certainly not experience an increase. This decision is a breath of fresh air for the economic stability of households and local MSME players, considering that the burden of public spending usually increases sharply when entering the holiday momentum, Tuesday (31/3/2026).Acting Director General of Electricity, Tri Winarno, emphasized that the current macroeconomic parameters allow the government to maintain the old tariffs in order to maintain people's purchasing power. This fixed tariff policy applies equally to all customer groups, from small to medium households to large industries in the Karawang area. With this decision, residents do not need to worry about a spike in electricity bills or a decrease in the kWh quota when recharging electricity tokens at the beginning of April.

For Karawang residents who are used to buying electricity tokens worth IDR 100,000, the number of kWh they get as of April 1 2026 will still remain the same as the previous period. As a simulation for the West Java region (including Karawang), 900 VA (RTM) power customers will get around 72.19 kWh. Meanwhile, for the majority of housing in Karawang with a power of 1,300 VA to 2,200 VA, charging one hundred thousand rupiah of electricity credit will produce around 67.56 kWh after deducting Street Lighting Tax (PPJ) according to regional regulations. The details of the applicable basic tariff still refer to the figure of IDR 1,352 per kWh for 900 VA-RTM power, and IDR 1,444.70 per kWh for power 1,300 VA and 2,200 VA. For subsidized customer groups (450 VA and 900 VA), tariffs are still set to be very affordable to protect low-income groups. The government guarantees that electricity supply during the Eid holiday period in the Karawang area will remain reliable and stable despite an increase in domestic energy consumption due to homecoming activities and family gatherings.Even though electricity rates are guaranteed to be safe and not increase, the public is advised to remain wise and economical in using energy. Effective use of electronic devices not only helps maintain national energy security, but also ensures that your remaining electricity token balance lasts longer until the end of the month. With the certainty of stable tariffs, Karawang residents can now focus more on allocating their holiday allowance (THR) budget for other basic needs without being burdened by sudden increases in utility costs.
