Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Karawang Regency Islamic Student Federation (FMI) took immediate steps to provide assistance to 8 residents of Rengasdengklok District, Karawang Regency, who were victims of fictitious job vacancy fraud. The victims who are currently still detained and in dire conditions in the Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency area, South Sumatra, are continuing to be repatriated. This case began when the victims contacted their colleagues in Karawang directly to ask for emergency help. They admitted that they were trapped by the lure of high wages outside the area via social media, which apparently did not match the facts on the ground, so they now ran out of supplies for food and transportation costs. After receiving the emergency complaint, representatives of fellow victims immediately took action in coordination with the FMI Karawang management. Quick advocacy steps were immediately taken so that the victims received protection before their physical and mental conditions worsened overseas.

FMI Karawang is fully committed to ensuring that the victims' rights are fulfilled and that they can immediately be reunited with their families in Rengasdengklok."We received reports directly from friends of the victims and immediately responded by developing advocacy steps. We are committed to overseeing this process until all the victims have successfully returned to their hometowns," said Febry. As a follow-up, intensive coordination has been established with the ranks of the South Rengasdengklok Village Government and the North Rengasdengklok Village Government. This step was taken to verify the population data of the victims so that the administrative pick-up process can run smoothly. Apart from coordination at the village level, the handling of this case has also been followed up directly at the Rengasdengklok District level. This further step with the sub-district government is aimed at bridging communication with relevant agencies so that the repatriation process can be realized quickly. This incident is an important reminder for Karawang residents to always be alert to various suspicious job offers outside the island. FMI Karawang hopes that solid synergy between the village, sub-district government and community organizations can speed up the process of returning these 8 residents.
