The Karawang Regency Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) office emphasized that the amount of fees that will be charged to prospective pilgrims cannot be confirmed because they are still waiting for an official decision from the government.The Head of the Karawang Regency Ministry of Hajj Office, Rojak, explained that the proposal submitted by the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will still be discussed in depth with Commission VIII of the DPR RI. This process involves evaluating cost components with the main aim of improving the quality of service for the congregation, both in terms of accommodation, transportation and services while in the holy land."All regions are still waiting because BPIH is only a proposal from the Ministry of Haj to the DPR. Later the components will be discussed with the aim of improving services to the community, especially Hajj pilgrims," said Rojak when confirmed, Thursday (16/7/2026).
Apart from discussing the nominal amount, the central government is currently also reviewing changes to the Hajj financing scheme. There is talk of changing the composition of payments, where previously 60 percent was paid by the congregation and 40 percent of the benefit value, it is planned to be 40 percent borne by the congregation and 60 percent of the benefit value to ease the burden on the community. The official determination will later be contained in a Presidential Decree after going through a series of discussions between the government and the DPR. The regional Ministry of Hajj will immediately carry out socialization after the official regulations are issued.On the other hand, the Ministry of Hajj of Karawang Regency has started making preparations for holding the Hajj pilgrimage in 2027. Based on temporary estimates, Karawang Regency is projected to receive a quota of 1,784 prospective Hajj pilgrims. The ministry will continue to monitor developments in regulations from the center to ensure the departure process runs in accordance with applicable regulations.
