Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, Unsavory news regarding alleged practices of intimidation against critical student voices has emerged again in Karawang. Kelvin, Coordinator of the Pangkal Perjuangan Youth Student Alliance (AMPERA), reported that he was the target of serious threats while attending a meeting at Buana Perjuangan University (UBP) Karawang, Monday (6/4/2026). The meeting which took place at 14.00 WIB was supposed to discuss studies related to action plans regarding the issue of land acquisition for Cikampek residents, but according to Kelvin's testimony, the forum actually turned into a space full of pressure directed at him.In the release received by the editors, Kelvin mentioned a number of initials who were present at the meeting, including YT (Chair of the UBP Foundation), Y (Chair of LHKK UBP), and AD (Student Affairs). Kelvin suspects that this intimidation is related to the AMPERA alliance's plan to make the UBP campus a rallying point for action next Wednesday. He admitted that he was under intense pressure because he was considered a mass mobilizer on issues involving parties external to the campus.

"I felt threatened that I would be criminally reported just because I made a flyer about the action plan. In fact, there were threats of physical violence and emotional gestures to suppress our critical voices so that we would not continue the movement," said Kelvin in his testimony. This intimidation was felt as a form of silencing the plan to express opinions in public that had been prepared by the student alliance. Responding to this dynamic, UBP Karawang has issued an official letter number 083/WR/KM/2026. In the letter signed by the Deputy Chancellor III for Student and Alumni Affairs, the university firmly stated that it would not allow the UBP Karawang environment to be used as a gathering point for consolidation of action. The campus emphasized that all activities that continue to force the use of university areas as gathering points will be outside their responsibilities, and warned of legal processes in accordance with applicable regulations. Kelvin emphasized that he would not resign even though he faced bureaucratic or criminal threats, because for him the campus is an area that must guarantee academic freedom in accordance with the mandate of Law no. 12 of 2012.Currently, AMPERA is coordinating with legal aid institutions to anticipate all forms of potential criminalization following the issuance of a prohibition letter and legal threats from the rectorate.
