Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Regent of Karawang, Aep Syaepuloh, took repressive steps to curb the mushrooming entertainment business that ignored the rule of law in his area. Strictly speaking, the Regent instructed the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) to immediately comb and take action against all night entertainment venues (THM) that were found operating without having a valid operational permit. This strict instruction was a direct response to the many entertainment business actors who were considered stubborn even though the regional government had provided various licensing concessions. The Regent emphasized that legality checks will be carried out thoroughly to ensure that every night business activity in Karawang has a strong legal basis."I have ordered the Satpol PP, check everything, clean up everything that does not have a permit," stressed Regent Aep Syaepuloh in his statement, Thursday (7/5/2026). This order is a strong signal that there is no longer any tolerance for business operations that run outside the corridors of state administration. In its implementation, the Regent asked Satpol PP to synergize with DPMPTSP and Disperindagkop UKM to conduct an in-depth document audit. This cross-agency collective step aims to carry out factual verification of all night entertainment business units spread across various points in Karawang Regency. Shocking data was revealed by the Karawang Regional Secretary (Sekda), Asep Aang Rahmatullah, regarding the real condition of business compliance in the field. Based on the results of data collection before last Ramadan, it was discovered that at least 67 THMs in the Karawang Regency area were identified as not having complete permit documents.

The condition of the 67 THM managers who still have "semi-legal" status is very unfortunate for the local government. In fact, during the operational pause period in the holy month of Ramadan yesterday, the Karawang Regency Government claimed to have provided ample opportunity for entrepreneurs to immediately complete all of their licensing documents. In order to eliminate bureaucratic complications, the Karawang Regency Government has even facilitated special services through integrated counters at the DPMPTSP office. This one-stop facility is specifically provided so that entertainment entrepreneurs can consult and manage business legality in a more transparent and efficient process. However, the government's good intentions through providing integrated counters do not seem to have produced maximum results in the eyes of business actors. This neglectful attitude is considered to be hurting the investment climate in Karawang which should uphold orderly administration and compliance with applicable regulations. Regional Secretary Asep Aang emphasized that Satpol PP, as the front guard in enforcing Regional Regulations (Perda), will not hesitate to carry out its functions in accordance with applicable regulations. If after this coaching phase, stubborn entrepreneurs are still found, then the sanction of forced closure according to the provisions is the final step that will be taken. The public is now waiting for the consistency of regional law enforcement officials in executing Regent Aep's instructions to rid Karawang of illegal entertainment practices. It is hoped that this total arrangement can restore the authority of the regional government while ensuring that all night businesses officially contribute to the development of Karawang Regency.
