Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The ever-increasing volume of household waste has now received a real solution from academics. Through the Real Work Lecture (KKN) program, Buana Perjuangan University (UBP) Karawang students officially launched a community service movement entitled "Community Based Waste Management" in West Jomin Village, Kotabaru District, Karawang Regency. Taking place on Sunday (12/07/2026) in the RW 08 Rawamas Indah Housing area, this program is here to overcome the threat of environmental pollution while encouraging the economic independence of residents. In its implementation, the UBP Karawang KKN team invites the community to manage household waste comprehensively through the application of the 3R circular principle, namely Reduce, Reuse and Recycle directly from the source. Education starts from correct waste sorting techniques, category-based collection, to the introduction of the Waste Bank system. Through this system, residents not only help reduce the volume of residue that accumulates in final disposal sites (TPA), but also have the opportunity to get economic incentives from the waste deposited. Not only providing environmental management theory, UBP Karawang KKN students also lead an interactive workshop that is eagerly awaited by residents, namely training on turning used plastic bottle waste into environmentally friendly paving blocks. This innovative manufacturing process utilizes a mixture of sand, cement and used oil to produce high-use building materials that are sturdy and long-lasting.Apart from the main focus on creating paving blocks from plastic waste, UBP Karawang KKN students also assist residents in optimizing the use of used goods around their living environment. This practical approach is designed so that every type of household waste can be converted into functional products that are useful and support the creation of a clean and orderly housing environment.
