Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Karawang Regency Government, West Java, has officially launched a free Student Worksheet (LKS) program for state elementary and middle school students starting in the 2026/2027 school year. This program, which was initiated to ease the economic burden on students' parents, was launched to coincide with the momentum of commemorating National Children's Day.The Regent of Karawang, Aep Syaepuloh, explained that the distribution of free LKS was a form of real commitment by the regional government in boosting the quality of education as well as a gift for the community. "Thank God, today, to coincide with National Children's Day, the Karawang Regency Government is giving gifts to the community in the form of free worksheets for elementary and middle school students," he said, Thursday (23/7).In the implementation scheme, the LKS are distributed for a period of use for one semester or six months, so that in one school year students will receive two distributions. In order to realize this program, the Karawang Regency Government has allocated a budget of around IDR 7 billion which is focused not only on printing, but also on quality standards for materials that are durable and not easily damaged.
Apart from targeting state schools, Regent Aep opened up opportunities to expand the program so that in the future students at madrasas and private schools can enjoy similar facilities. Regarding learning materials, the LKS modules are prepared directly by a team of professional teachers based on the subject curriculum, covering around 12 subjects for junior high school level and 9 subjects for elementary school level.The regional government hopes that this policy can cut routine family expenses and ensure that all children in Karawang Regency receive adequate learning facilities. This strategic step also complements various public services that have been previously free in order to improve people's welfare.Through policies that complement this free health service, the Karawang Regency Government hopes that the financial burden on parents can be reduced significantly. This strategic step is also projected as a strong foundation in producing superior human resources to meet the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045.
