Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The solemn atmosphere of the inauguration of the Chancellor of Buana Perjuangan University (UBP) Karawang turned into a stage for student protests on Thursday (9/4/2026). He suspects that this change occurred in line with the change in leadership at the institutional level which actually showed a repressive attitude towards students."Historically, consolidation gathering points on campus have never been problematic. However, since the new leadership at LHKK which we consider to be problematic, the situation has changed. Student discussions are now considered a threat," said Kelvin in his oration in front of the UBP Karawang campus.Kelvin revealed a number of alleged intimidation practices carried out by unscrupulous lecturers. initials Dr. Y. Starting from threats to distribute personal videos to students who are critical in class, to allegations of academic abuse. Kelvin said that there were students whose graduation process was complicated and their hearings were delayed for two years due to confrontations with these individuals.
Not only psychological pressure, Kelvin also admitted to receiving direct physical and verbal threats. "Yesterday I was threatened with being beaten and even punished. This happened because of negative 'whispers' towards the Foundation which damaged the image of students in the eyes of the leadership," he added.AMPPERA also highlighted campus policies which were deemed to cut the creativity and budget of student organizations (Ormawa). It is felt that the space for students to move in expressing their aspirations and using campus facilities is increasingly tight and gives the impression of placing students as bureaucratic rivals, not partners in academic development. In their official demands, students urge the newly appointed Chancellor together with the student affairs staff to carry out a total evaluation of individual lecturers, Dr. Y. They asked that the campus return to being a safe space for intellectual discourse and student movements without the shadow of academic threats.Closing his action, Kelvin confirmed that AMPPERA would send an official letter to the Foundation Trustees and the Rectorate. Students gave a strong warning that if their demands for an evaluation were not immediately responded to, they would return with a larger mass wave to demand justice on the UBP Karawang campus.
