UBP Karawang KKN Students Encourage Independent Waste Management in Plered Village, Purwakarta

Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, One of the groups of Real Work Lecture (KKN) students at Buana Perjuangan University (UBP) Karawang assigned to Plered Village, Purwakarta Regency, has officially started a work program for handling environmental waste. Although the Field Supervisor (DPL), Ir. Dicky Surya Pranatha, S.T., M.T., was not physically present at the location, coordination regarding the work program had been carried out previously. This strategic step began with a meeting between student representatives and local village officials on Monday (13/07/2026).The presence of the KKN student group was welcomed by the Head of Plered Village, Erik Akbar Fauzi, who was accompanied by the Village Secretary, Dani Firdaus. During its implementation in the village hall, this activity was also attended by various other village officials who fully supported the student initiative. The village government stated its readiness to facilitate the programs carried out, especially those related to environmental cleanliness so that they run optimally.This waste management program was the main focus carried out by the UBP Karawang KKN student group while serving in Plered Village. This group plans to increase education regarding more structured waste management methods to the community. Through socialization of procedures for sorting household waste, it is hoped that the accumulation of waste in residential areas can be minimized effectively and systematically.

The aim is that environmental cleanliness problems in the area can be handled more regularly. In its implementation, the KKN student group will actively involve local residents in various cleanliness actions. This participatory approach is considered important so that collective awareness regarding the importance of protecting the environment can grow and take root among the Plered Village community.Through this close collaboration, it is hoped that Plered Village residents can be more independent in managing their household waste every day. Community independence is the main target that student groups want to achieve so that environmental cleanliness is maintained in a sustainable manner, even after their KKN period ends. This program is designed to have a long-term positive impact on the ecosystem and health of residents in the village.The entire series of UBP Karawang KKN student activities will continue to run by strictly adhering to the technical direction from the DPL, Ir. Dicky Surya Pranatha, S.T., M.T., and in synergy with all Plered Village officials. It is hoped that this collaboration between academics, village officials and citizen participation will be able to create real changes in village waste management and provide sustainable benefits for the Plered Village community in the future.
