Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Karawang Regency Government (Pemkab) officially implemented the Work From Home (WFH) work pattern for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) every Friday starting April 2026. This strategic policy was taken as a concrete step to follow up on the central government's direction to make budget savings, especially on the use of fuel oil (BBM). The Head of BKPSDM Karawang, Jajang Jaenudin, emphasized that this step is not just about providing work flexibility, but is part of a bureaucratic transformation that is more modern, efficient and technology-based in order to strengthen the culture of energy saving in the regional environment.Despite implementing WFH, the Karawang Regency Government ensures that work productivity remains a top priority. The implementation of WFH every Friday still follows the provisions of normal working hours, where ASN are required to carry out official duties and are prohibited from carrying out activities outside of work. This policy also aims to reduce the daily mobility of employees which has a direct impact on the operational efficiency of official vehicles. However, this WFH rule does not apply to all ASN; echelon II and III officials, sub-district heads, village heads, and direct service officers are still required to work from the office (WFO).

In line with the WFH policy, the Karawang Regency Government carried out significant changes to the work system of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), including the health sector. Community health centers throughout the Karawang area are now implementing a five working day system, changing from the previous six working days. Interestingly, this change actually provides added value for the community because the daily service hours at the Puskesmas are now longer. If previously services were only until 14.00 WIB, now people can access health services until 15.45 WIB.The Head of BKPSDM Karawang, Jajang Jaenudin, explained that the adjustment to service hours at this health facility is designed so that services to the community remain optimal and more effective. It is hoped that the extension of the duration of daily services at the Community Health Center can accommodate the needs of residents who are currently constrained by time when seeking treatment. This strategy shows that budget efficiency through WFH does not sacrifice public interests, but instead optimizes existing resources for better service for Karawang residents. The implementation of this new work pattern will continue to be monitored and evaluated regularly to ensure that the budget savings target and service effectiveness are achieved. The public is advised to pay attention to changes in operational schedules at government offices and nearby health facilities. With this transformation, the Karawang Regency Government is optimistic that it can create government governance that is more agile and responsive to global economic challenges, as well as becoming a pioneer of an energy-saving work culture at the West Java regional level by 2026.
