Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Karawang Regency Government (Pemkab) succeeded in awakening people's longing for local traditions by holding the Ngadulag and Mobile Takbir Festivals on Friday (20/3/2026) evening. The event, which was centered on Jalan Ahmad Yani, in front of the Karawang Regent's Office, became a magnet for thousands of residents who crowded the location to celebrate the victorious night of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriyah. This festival marks the return of traditional Islamic broadcasts which had been absent for decades in the homeland of the struggle. The Regent of Karawang, Aep Syaepuloh, expressed his gratitude for the implementation of activities which are now packaged more evenly. Different from previous years, this year's festival is divided into three main points, namely the Karawang, Cikampek and Tirtajaya regional government areas, in order to break up crowd buildup and facilitate participation from 30 sub-districts. "Thank God, through this dulag or drum we are returning tradition. Karawang is not only a rice barn and industrial city, but also a religious area with more than 500 Islamic boarding schools," said Aep in his speech which was greeted with enthusiasm by residents.

The enthusiasm for preserving original culture was clearly visible from the participants, one of which was the Limas Kencleng group representing West Telukjambe District. Udin Puyuh, the coordinator, expressed his pride in being able to present the pure ngadulag concept using traditional instruments such as the gebang tree and kohkol without the touch of modern musical instruments. According to him, this festival is a breath of fresh air that has changed the habit of wild wandering takbir to become more organized, orderly and full of meaning as he experienced in the 90s.The festival, which competes for a total prize of millions of rupiah, is judged by the jury based on the creativity and originality of the instruments displayed by each sub-district. By dividing regional zoning, the Karawang Regency Government succeeded in creating a lively but still conducive and controlled takbiran evening atmosphere (kamtibmas). The hope is that the Ngadulag Festival will not only become seasonal entertainment, but will become a permanent identity that strengthens harmony and local wisdom of the Karawang community in the future.
