First Day of Work After Eid: 95 Percent of ASN Karawang Present, 24 Employees Threatened with Sanctions Due to Absenteeism

Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The level of presence of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Karawang Regency Government on the first day of work after the 2026 Eid holiday was recorded at 95.14 percent. Even though the majority of employees have returned to duty, the Karawang Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) reported that 4.89 percent of employees were absent for various reasons at the morning assembly at the Karawang Regional Government Plaza, Wednesday (25/3/2026). Head of BKPSDM Karawang, Jajang Jaenudin, revealed that the majority of absences were caused by annual leave, which reached 3.75 percent or around 300 people. Apart from that, there are 0.75 percent of employees who are absent due to illness and 0.02 percent for reasons outside the state's responsibility. However, a sharp focus was focused on 24 employees (0.29 percent) who were reported to be absent without explanation, aka being absent on the first day of work.

Responding to dozens of employees who were absent, BKPSDM emphasized that it would carry out further investigations and confirmations to ascertain the reasons for their absence. Jajang emphasized that his party would not hesitate to take firm action if it was proven that there was an element of intent. "Those without information are 24 people. We will confirm whether they did not report or really had no reason. If they are proven absent, there will definitely be sanctions," said Jajang after the morning assembly.On the other hand, the Karawang Regency Government is also reviewing the discourse on implementing a Work From Home (WFH) system as an effort to efficiently consume fuel oil (BBM). This scheme is still in the discussion stage and awaiting official direction from the central government. Jajang added that if this policy is implemented, the attendance and performance reporting system will continue to be tightened to ensure employee productivity does not decrease even though they work in shifts from home.Through this data collection, BKPSDM Karawang hopes that the level of ASN discipline will remain maintained, especially in public service sectors that have direct contact with the community. This attendance evaluation has become a routine agenda after the long holiday to ensure that the government in Karawang Regency returns to running normally and optimally in serving the needs of residents in various fields of work.
