Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, The Buana Perjuangan University (UBP) Karawang Real Work Lecture (KKN) student group again showed its dedication in protecting the environment by holding a "Clean Friday" action in Plered Village, Purwakarta Regency, Friday (17/7/2026). Together with the Head of Plered Hamlet, Faisal, the students worked directly to eradicate waste accumulation points in order to create a healthier environmental sanitation. This mutual cooperation activity focused on cleaning gutters and public areas which have been the center of accumulation of domestic waste. This synergy between academics and hamlet officials is a real preventive step in minimizing the risk of the spread of disease, as well as supporting the sustainable work program that has been launched by the UBP Karawang KKN group in Plered Village since the beginning of the assignment. The Head of Plered Hamlet, Faisal, who directly led the action, expressed high appreciation for the students' initiative. According to him, the active involvement of UBP Karawang KKN students was able to revive the community's culture of mutual cooperation. Faisal hopes that this activity will be a momentum for the community to care more about household waste management so that it does not pollute the village ecosystem.
"We were greatly helped by the presence of UBP Karawang KKN students in this Clean Friday action. This is not just cleaning up rubbish, but is a real education for residents to be more aware of the importance of separating waste between organic and inorganic. Hopefully this spirit will remain intact even after the KKN period has ended," said Faisal on the sidelines of the activity. In between the action, UBP Karawang KKN students also provided education regarding systematic waste management techniques. Residents are invited to practice sorting waste from its source, namely the household level. This participatory approach is believed to be very effective in changing community behavior in handling waste, so that the volume of waste disposed of at the Final Disposal Site (TPA) can be reduced significantly. The Clean Friday program is one of the pillars of a series of environmental strategies carried out by UBP Karawang KKN students in Plered Village. Through intensive collaboration between residents, village officials and students, it is hoped that a clean, healthy and sustainable village ecosystem will be created. This concrete step is also a concrete manifestation of student dedication in supporting the development of independent villages in the Purwakarta Regency area.
