A man from Riau, named Arifin, was found by officers in an exhausted condition on the side of the road when he was determined to go home on foot from Bekasi to Surabaya. He was forced to carry out this reckless action due to limited funds after completing his overseas period, Thursday (19/3/2026).Police personnel who were on standby on the Karawang homecoming route were initially suspicious when they saw a man carrying a makeshift bag walking unsteadily in the middle of the busy traffic flow. After being approached and communicated with, the heartbreaking fact was revealed that Arifin was willing to travel hundreds of kilometers to be able to celebrate Eid with his family in his hometown even without having to pay a penny.Hearing this narrative, Karawang Police Chief AKBP Fiki N. Ardiansyah, through the Head of Public Relations of Ipda Cep Wildan, immediately instructed his staff to take quick action. Without further ado, Karawang Police facilitated Arifin's departure by taking him to the nearest bus terminal.
"As a form of concern from the National Police, we immediately provided free bus tickets to Surabaya and provided Arifin with pocket money for his needs during the trip. We wanted to ensure he arrived at his destination safely and decently," said Ipda Cep Wildan on behalf of the Karawang Police Chief.Not only tickets and pocket money, the officers even carried out special coordination with the bus crew to give more attention to Arifin during the trip. Arifin seemed unable to hold back his tears and repeatedly expressed his gratitude for the spontaneous assistance he received from the Karawang Police when he was almost in despair.Through this humanitarian action, the Karawang Police appealed to all travelers not to force themselves if they experienced obstacles, both technical and financial. The police emphasized that every Security Post (Pos Pam) along the Karawang route is ready to serve and assist residents who need emergency assistance, in order to create a safe, smooth and blessed homecoming.
