Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, Mass beatings broke out in Pisangsambo Village, Tirtajaya District, Karawang Regency, West Java, on Thursday (26/3/2026) afternoon. A man with the initials AP (42) was reportedly the target of public outrage after allegedly having an illicit relationship with the wife of a local resident with the initials D (55). This unfortunate incident occurred shortly after the husband arrived at his house after traveling from Cirebon.Reporting from detikJabar, the chaos started when D received information from residents regarding his wife's alleged affair with the reported AP. Feeling unacceptable, D then called AP to his residence to ask for clarification in front of the residents. The situation which was initially intended for mediation turned tense when residents began to surround the scene.
Head of Public Relations for the Karawang Police, Ipda Cep Wildan, explained that during the clarification process, AP admitted that he had an affair with D's wife. However, AP strongly denied having had an intimate relationship. This one-sided confession apparently triggered the anger of the crowd, which was already aroused by emotion, until finally there was a spontaneous action in the form of joint abuse against AP. "Because the situation at that time was not conducive and the crowd was quite large, there was a spontaneous action in the form of abuse of the Reported Party by residents until he suffered injuries," said Inspector Cep Wildan when giving a statement, Friday (27/3/2026). Luckily, officers from the Tirtajaya Police together with the Pisangsambo Village Babinsa and local village officials immediately arrived at the location to break up the chaos and protect the reported party from more severe anger from the residents. For further investigation, the police have taken D, his wife, and a man with the initials AP to the Karawang Police Headquarters. Until this news was published, the alleged affair case which resulted in the beating was being handled intensively by the TPPO Investigation Unit and PPA Karawang Police. The police appealed to residents not to take the judge into their own hands and to hand over the entire legal process to the authorities.
