Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, Environmental-based health issues are now a serious concern at the national level, especially regarding the potential spread of diseases carried by rodents. Health expert Dr. Gaffar T Karim emphasized that education regarding the dangers of Hantavirus must continue to be improved to strengthen public awareness. The most important preventive measure is not only in the medical aspect, but also in the community's commitment to keeping the environment clean so that it does not become a habitat for mice.Technically, Hantavirus transmission occurs through exposure to urine, saliva, and mouse droppings that have been contaminated with the virus. These virus particles can mix with the air and be inhaled by humans, especially in areas that are damp, closed and rarely cleaned. "Considering that this condition can occur anywhere, the wider community—including residents in the Karawang Regency area—is encouraged to be more concerned about the sanitation quality of their homes and residential environments."Preventive efforts for Hantavirus can actually start from simple actions, namely by keeping the corners of the room clean and eradicating the presence of mice around the house. Public education is crucial so that the risk of transmitting this infection can be reduced as low as possible collectively," said Dr. Gaffar when giving his statement regarding national environmental health efforts.

Furthermore, Dr. Gaffar explained that the initial symptoms of Hantavirus often resemble general health complaints such as flu, which include high fever, muscle aches, and the body feeling very weak. However, the public is asked to remain vigilant because in some conditions, this disease can trigger serious respiratory problems. Therefore, not ignoring early symptoms is the key to getting faster and more appropriate medical treatment. In supporting national preparedness, dr. Gaffar ensured that the medical service infrastructure, both at Community Health Centers and Hospitals, was ready to serve people who wanted to check for health complaints. Health workers in various regions will carry out initial screening based on the patient's symptoms and activity history. "Early detection at the nearest health facility is expected to prevent the risk of more serious health complications for the patient."If there are people who experience symptoms resembling infection after contact with an unclean environment, they are expected to immediately visit a health facility for an early examination. Responsive treatment will determine the success of recovery," concluded Dr. Gaffar. With the synergy between national awareness in maintaining cleanliness and easy medical access, it is hoped that the health status of local and national communities will remain optimally maintained.
