Thieves with sickles act on Jalan Baru Karawang, travelers from Kuningan become victims

Seputarkarawang.com - Karawang, Street crime is disturbing again, a motorbike rider became the victim of a sadistic mugging on Jalan Baru Karawang, precisely on the Pantura route, outer ring of Tanjungpura. The victim, Hamdan, who was traveling from Kuningan to Jakarta, was attacked by two perpetrators armed with sharp weapons when he stopped for a moment to get a drink from the seat of his motorbike. This frightening incident adds to the long list of vulnerabilities on the outer ring route which is known for having minimal lighting.Without warning, two perpetrators on a motorbike immediately approached and attacked the victim using sickles. "Before I had time to get a drink, two people suddenly came straight at me swinging sickles," said Hamdan in a traumatized tone, Saturday (4/4/2026). Even though he had offered minimal resistance, the victim was finally cornered by the aggressiveness of the perpetrator who blindly targeted his vehicle.

The perpetrator's sharp weapon hit the victim's back, tearing the jacket he was wearing. Luckily, Hamdan's injuries were not fatal because the blow from the sickle was blocked by the backpack he was using at the time. Even though his life was saved, the victim had to let go of his Honda Vario motorbike and was taken away by the perpetrators who immediately sped off and disappeared into the darkness of the Pantura route.At the scene of the incident, strong evidence was found in the form of a sickle sheath left behind, which is thought to have belonged to one of the perpetrators. The evidence was secured by local security officers before finally being handed over to the police. The Karawang Police Inafis Team has also been dispatched to the location to carry out a crime scene investigation (TKP) to identify traces left by the robbers.Currently, the robbery case has entered the intensive handling of the Karawang Police Criminal Investigation Unit to hunt down the identity and whereabouts of the perpetrators. The public is again reminded to be extra vigilant when crossing quiet lanes during vulnerable hours to avoid similar criminal acts.
